We arrived in Winnipeg at around 1:00pm (on the 23rd) and my brother was there to greet us all. The weather was cold...actually more like crazy freezing/frigid. The kind of cold that chills your bones...I'm sure someone mentioned the -40C (which is the same as F) a few times. Even though I grew up in these temps, it doesn't take long to forget what it really feels like.
My brother's house was both amazingly big and beautiful. Our entire family of 13 (8 adults and 5 kids) were able to stay in the house comfortably and there were probably rooms in the house that were empty. Most impressive!
Thanks Darren and Michelle for hosting us! They worked very hard to prepare breakfast every morning as well as the rest of the meals. Of course my mom was there to help prepare some meals. We tried to help out as much as we could, but our hosts were too good.
Christmas day was fun as there were lots of presents for the kids and adults. There was even a surprise visit by Santa Claus himself!! Everyone enjoyed that, esp the kids, but to bad my dad was not there there to see Santa...hmmm. :)
The rest of the week was filled with Talia's baptism, watching the World Junior Hockey games, football (better luck next year Bears!) and some bowling/tennis/golf on the Wii. No skiing or skating this trip as the weather was just too cold. :(
It was nice to see everyone and amazed to see how big the nieces and nephew grew! They're all so big and active! I think Milo and Talia became good friends as both of them were not quite as mobile as the rest of the kids. Karis and Salina were busy playing together while Jared tried to sift through the 100's of dolls and pink toys to find the random truck or soccer ball to play with.
It seemed that everyone was dong well, and it was great to see everyone for the week. However, after a week of being inside, I think we we're all looking forward to going back home. Here's some pictures from the Leitao Family Christmas in Winnipeg!
